Student dies in car accident
From staff reports
A Taylor High School student died Tuesday after being involved in an automobile accident the day before.
Nicole Corser, 17, was traveling south on Greenhouse Road when, according to reports, she ran the stop light at Interstate 10. A delivery truck heading east hit the 2002 Toyota Camry Corser was driving, officials said.
"It's been a tough couple of days for a lot of our kids," said THS Principal David Kendler. "Not so much in the freshman wing, but in the main building, it's been a really somber atmosphere. She was very popular and a very active girl."
Katy ISD spokesman Steve Stanford said counselors and a student support specialist were at the school during the week to help students cope with the loss. The specialist also referred those who required additional counseling to professionals in the community, Stanford said.
Corser, a Mustang cheerleader, was remembered Thursday prior to a THS basketball game. After the national anthem at the game, a moment of silence was observed and concluded with the public address official saying "She touched many lives with her smile, her faith and her enthusiasm."
