As many know, Katy is home to many artists of varying levels of experience. From the greenest novice to artists with decades under their belt, they hone their craft and put their workings up for sale, to find new homes with residents all across Katy.
This year, the Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center is teaming up with LaCenterra Saturday for “Arts on the Square,” an event that gives artists the opportunity to sell their wares.
“Normally an event of this kind is planned a year in advance,” said Cindi Gardner, community programs director for the KVPAC.
“KVPAC and LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch work in partnership to make the arts assessable to the community and to showcase local artists and their work. The hope is to see a level of community interests and support for this kind of event to justify expansion next year.”
The event, scheduled for Saturday at LaCenterra from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will feature booths from artists who work in any number of art styles, including oils, watercolor, acrylics, sculpture, pottery, glass and metal.
According to Gardner, rather than have random artists display their work for sale, artists sent in applications and were judged on whether or not they should be given booth space.
After this, the artist will then pay the booth fee with proceeds going to support community arts events during the next year.
During the afternoon, live music will be available.
There is no admission fee.
