Morton Ranch High School and Seven Lakes High School will host the parents-only presentations of “Teens, Sex and Choices” Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The sessions are a prelude to ninth-grade student assemblies that will be held Wednesday at Morton Ranch, Seven Lakes and Katy High by Aim For Success.

Tuesday's parents-only sessions provide the audience with helpful hints about how and when to communicate with their children about sex. They also preview what their children will hear the next day.

“It’s one of the best programs out there,” Seven Lakes principal Christie Whitbeck said. “Not only is it fact-based, but it’s really fast-paced to keep (the freshmen) interested.”

With strong support from President George Bush and millions of dollars in funding, abstinence-only sexual education has become the government’s preferred strategy in the war on teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

Aim for Success is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization based in Dallas.  Founded in 1993 by Marilyn Morris, Aim for Success is the largest provider of abstinence education programs in the nation.

The programs have reached more than 1.5  million teens, parents and educators in schools, churches and youth organizations.

With the help of four full-time speakers and five part-time speakers, over 2,000 abstinence programs are delivered each year.

“Abstinence is a very positive, upbeat message,” Morris said. “It’s not a fear message, it’s a free message.”

Aim For Success promotes a lifestyle of excellence by encouraging the development of self control, self respect, and self discipline. During live presentations students are encouraged to develop strong, responsible character as they deal with sexual pressure.

According to Aim For Success, the one-hour presentations are age-appropriate and designed for 6th grade through college. The programs are fast-paced, fun and filled with games, stories and object lessons. Each presentation includes PowerPoint technology. These positive, medically-accurate programs help build self-control, self-respect and self-discipline.

The presentation helps students learn the wisdom of committing to be sexually abstinent until marriage. Parents are inspired to raise responsible children who know their choices have consequences.

The program is part of a morning of presentations to the freshmen while the sophomores and juniors take the PSAT.
