The Texas Department of Public Safety is urging Texans to avoid traveling to Mexico during spring break, and beyond, due to the ongoing violence throughout that country. more

Senator Paul Bettencourt, R-Houston, filed SB 2329 and SJR 86 to let Texans vote on eliminating Daylight Savings Time. If the voters approve, this would group Texas with Arizona and Hawaii, the only two states that do not currently observe Daylight Savings Time in the United States. more

With nine years under its belt buckle, H-E-B is announcing the call for entries for the 10th Annual H-E-B Quest for Texas Best. Submissions will be accepted February 22 through April 6. Qualified participants will compete for a combined $70,000 in cash prizes and the opportunity to feature their product on H-E-B shelves across the state. more

Nancy Olson was named Child Advocate of the Year for 2022 at Child Advocates of Fort Bend’s Annual Volunteer Celebration held Feb. 23 at Sugar Creek Country Club. The event was attended by more than 200 volunteers, community partners and staff. more

The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) announced it will re-open the Texas Rent Relief application portal from March 14-28 in order to accept new applications for a remaining $96 million in rent relief funds. The rent relief portal will accept new applications starting at 8 a.m. March 14 through 11:59 p.m. March 28 to help eligible households with rent and utility payments. more

Former Katy ISD educators Steve and Elaine Robertson were joined by the Robertson “Bulldog” Family during the Feb. 21 official dedication ceremony of the district’s newest elementary school. During the ceremony, the school community enjoyed performances from the Bulldog Choir, presentations from elected officials, and heard heartfelt remarks from district leadership and the Robertsons. more
