Some of the world’s most talented wakeboarders and wakesurfers will make Katy their own waterpark on Saturday, June 12, when they compete at the Pro Wakeboard, Pro Wakesurf and Junior Pro Wakeboard tours. It is the longest-running professional wakeboard circuit.

The circuit will take place on August Lakes, Katy’s 100-plus acre watersports community facility located at 3707 Pitts Road. Admission will be free for fans for the 2021 season-opening event. No seating or stadium seating is provided, and fans are encouraged to bring chairs and towels. Food trucks will be on site and there will be no charge for parking.

“Returning to Katy is awesome for the tour and its athletes after last year’s altered schedule of events,” said Chris Bischoff, director of the Pro Wakeboard Tour. “August Lakes is a beautiful facility for returning fans and newcomers to enjoy some incredible action on the water. For the first-time ever, the event will be free for all fans.”

The eight highest-ranked competitors from 2020 pre-qualified for the 2021 tour, leaving eight spots reserved for the best runs submitted to the digital qualifier. Pre-qualified riders include Nic Rapa, the 2020 overall winner, and Cory Teunissen and Tyler Higham.

The event begins Friday, June 11, with the Junior Pro semifinals from 4-5 p.m. The pro wakesurf semifinals start at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, followed by the pro wakeboarding quarterfinals at 10 a.m. and the junior pro wakeboarding finals at noon.

The pro wakesurf finals start at 12:30 p.m. The pro wakeboarding semifinals start at 1 p.m., with the pro wakeboarding finals at 2:15 p.m. Awards are scheduled to be given out at 3:30 p.m.

The Supra Boats SA550 is the official tow boat for the tour again in 2021. For more information, visit prowakeboardtour.com.
