Andre H. Abbey, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on August 19, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on September 11, 1953, in Houston, Texas, Andre lived a full and joyful life, one marked by deep faith, love for his family, and a heart for his community.
On June 2, 1984, Andre married the love of his life, Katie Abbey. Together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, faith, and unwavering devotion to one another. Andre was the proud father of two daughters, Jessica Teich and her husband Chris, and Crissy Paterakis and her husband Kyle. Nothing brought him greater joy than being “Papa” to his beloved grandchildren, Kase, Emma, and Amanda, who lit up his world.
He is also survived by his mothers, Josette Bentley and Geneva Abbey Cooney, and his brothers, James and Jerry. He was preceded in death by loved ones who now welcome him into eternal peace.
Andre’s faith in Christ guided every aspect of his life. He was a light to many—always smiling, always kind, always present. He loved his community deeply and gave freely of his time, energy, and heart. Known for his playful and social spirit, Andre never met a stranger and had a gift for making others feel valued and loved.
To his family, he was not only a source of strength and wisdom but also a constant reminder of unconditional love. To his friends and community, he was a steady presence, a loyal companion, and a man who lived life with joy and purpose.
A celebration of Andre’s life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 460 Fisher Street, New Waverly, Texas 77358. All who knew and loved him are invited to attend and honor his memory.
Andre’s legacy will live on in the love he shared, the joy he spread, and the faith he so deeply held. Though he will be missed beyond measure, his light will continue to shine through the lives of those who were blessed to know him.
