Betty Jean Caldwell was born on April 12, 1936, in Houston, Texas to Gerald and Fannie Sexton Miller. She graduated from Sulphur High School in Louisiana. On December 29, 1962, she married Alan Boyd Caldwell in Houston, Texas. Betty was a member of Katy First United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed being a member of the Chancel Choir, Good Samaritan Sunday School class, and the Joyful Noisemakers. She also worked at the Katy Depot for many years. Betty was a devoted Katy Tiger football fan and followed the Aggies as well. She also traveled a lot with the Holiday Ramblers Recreational Club.
Betty Jean Caldwell passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023, in Katy, at the age of 86.
She is survived by her daughters, Paula Gist, and Breta Goodrow and her fiancé Curtis; grandchildren, Lindsay Elmore and her husband Corey, and Jordan Goodrow; great grandchildren, Cayden and Hadley Elmore; brother, Robert Key; sister, Dorothy Key Brightwell and her husband James; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Boyd Caldwell; parents, Gerald and Fannie Miller, and Ghursome Key; Siblings, Gerald Kenneth Miller, Jr., Jerry Miller, Donald Key, Darleen Christopher, and Janice Key.
The family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the Schmidt Funeral Home 5601 Fifth Street, in Katy. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church of Katy, with Rev. Mark Kimbrough officiating. Interment in Katy Magnolia Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Goodrow, Corey Elmore, Shannon Caldwell, Chris Caldwell, Jason Hoke, Justin Schroyer, Wayne Hooks, and Ray Silhavy; honorary pallbearer will be Cayden Elmore.
