Brown, Silveira take 1st at pro wakeboard, wakesurf tours

The 2021 Pro Wakeboard, Pro Wakesurf and Junior Pro Wakeboard tours were held in Katy on June 11-12. The longest-running professional wakeboard circuit took place at August Lakes, Katy’s 100-plus acre watersports community facility located at 3707 Pitts Road.

Brown, Silveira take 1st at pro wakeboard, wakesurf tours

The 2021 Pro Wakeboard, Pro Wakesurf and Junior Pro Wakeboard tours were held in Katy on June 11-12. The longest-running professional wakeboard circuit took place at August Lakes, Katy’s 100-plus acre watersports community facility located at 3707 Pitts Road.

The tours marked the opening of the 2021 season for the sports.

The eight highest-ranked competitors from 2020 pre-qualified for the 2021 tour, leaving eight spots reserved for the best runs submitted to the digital qualifier. Pre-qualified riders include Nic Rapa, the 2020 overall winner, and Cory Teunissen and Tyler Higham.

In pro men wakeboarding, Sam Brown ran away with the finals win with a score of 90. Rapa came in second place at 84.33. Teunissen was third at 80.66.

Fynn Bullock finished fourth at 70.66, followed by Guenther Oka (62) and Massi Piffaretti (34).

In pro men wakesurfing, Sean Silveira took first with a score of 91.66. Taylor Swanson finished second with a score of 70, followed by Camron Swanson in third at 64.33.

In junior pro men wakeboarding, Jamie Huser placed first with a score of 74.66, barely eluding Parker Swope with a 71.66. Cody Hunnicutt finished third with a score of 56.66.

Tanner Higham finished fourth a 46.
