Burglar captured after KPD investigation

Tylor Walton, 21, of Houston has been charged with felony burglary of a building after a security alarm early in the morning on Aug. 5 at Dovetail Antiques in downtown Katy alerted police to a burglary there. After reviewing security footage at the store, Katy Police Department investigators were able to identify Walton’s vehicle which led to his arrest.

“Detectives then located the vehicle in the Houston area. With the assistance of the Texas Department of Public Safety, the vehicle was stopped, and Detectives were able to place Walton in custody for the burglary of the antique shop without incident,” a KPD press release said.

Items belonging to Dovetail Antiques were located inside Walton’s vehicle and he later confessed to the crime after being interviewed by investigators. He also admitted to burglarizing other antique shops in the Houston area.

The Flock Safety System of cameras located throughout the city helped identify Walton’s vehicle as the truck associated with the investigation. The system helps the department monitor traffic into and out of certain portions of the city and can help investigators determine if a vehicle was in the city at the time of a crime.

“We want to thank the Department of Public Safety and Harris County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance,” the KPD press release said.
