Katy Independent School District Trustee Dawn Champagne has been elected to a one-year term on the Texas Association of School Boards’ – otherwise known as TASB – Board of Directors.
“I look forward to serving Katy ISD in this capacity and working alongside other school board leaders to chart the best future for Texas public schools,” Champagne said.
TASB is an organization established to assist Texas school boards in 1949. It currently represents nearly 8,000 school board members who oversee the education of more than 5.4 million Texas Students.
Champagne was elected to the KISD Board of Trustees in 2018 and has been a volunteer in the district and community since moving to the Katy area in 2001. She has also served as the president of the Parent Teacher Organization and vice-president of Project Grad 2018 for Taylor High School. She has served on campus and bond advisory groups and the Katy Council of Parent Teacher Associations. She has also served as a KEYS mentor since 2015 and was named Volunteer of the Year for McMeans Junior High School in 2016 and Taylor High School in 2018.
