Four new tenants open at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch

LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch is welcoming four new tenants to its lineup of retailers and restaurants.

New tenants opening at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch:

• The Crack Shack, opening in February: The Crack Shack infuses Southern California spirit into the great tradition of deliciously fried chicken—reimagining classic comfort food with fine dining flair in a coop-like atmosphere inspired by a love for chicken and sunshine. Crack Shack will be located next to Madison Reed Color bar and across from Central Green and Torchy's in a 4,065 sq. ft. space.
• Nando’s, opening in the summer: Nando’s is the home of the South African flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken and sauces. Nando’s will open in a 2,754 sq. ft. space next to Jamba Juice.
• One Medical, opening in April: A national membership-based primary care practice, One Medical will open soon next to Pure Barre and across from Alamo Drafthouse in a 3,843 sq. ft. space. One Medical’s technology powered solutions offer 24/7 on-demand virtual medical care and next-day appointments to care for the body and mind.
• Warby Parker, now open: Eyewear brand company Warby Parker opened in a 2,364 sq. ft. space across from Torchy’s Tacos. As a one-stop-shop, Warby Parker’s store is making it easier for local customers to access all of their vision care needs. The location offers eye exams and carries their full sun and optical eyewear offerings and features artwork by Anna Broadhurst.

In addition to welcoming four new tenants, LaCenterra is also celebrating the opening of Studio 12.20’s new 4,680 sq. ft space next to White House Black Market. The lifestyle boutique, which offers women’s clothing, home decor and gifts, incorporates its sister store Studio 12.20 Next Gen, which focuses on children’s clothing.

Walmart to close Westheimer Parkway location

Citing several factors, including historical and current financial performance, Walmart said it will close its location Walmart Neighborhood Market at 24919 Westheimer Pkwy.

The company said it plans to close the store to the public by March 10.

Walmart said all its associates would be eligible for transfer to other stories. It said there are 14 Walmarts within 20 miles of the Westheimer Parkway location.

“We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them at our Katy location,” Lauren Willis, global communications director for the Western U.S., said. “We look forward to serving them at our other stores in the surrounding communities and on walmart.com.”

Registration for Camp Spark open

Registration is open for the second annual Camp Spark, which provides unique insights into life as a firefighter and/or EMS professional. The camp is intended to encourage young women to consider fire and EMS service as a career, according to an announcement by Harris County ESD 48. Participants will take part in a three-day camp of physical training, classes and Fire/EMS simulations. The camp is open to 25 female students that are between ages 14-18 and is free to participants thanks to sponsorships.

The camp is set for June 6-8. Deadline for applications is March 3.

Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital using new robotic navigation, 3D imaging platform for cranial, spine surgery

Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital recently added a new intraoperative robotic navigation and 3D imaging platform designed to improve patient safety and surgical efficiency during cranial and spine procedures.

The first of its kind in Texas and one of the first in the U.S., the new platform can precisely track the movement of surgical instruments and enable improved visualization of patient anatomy in real-time, increasing the efficiency of cranial and spine surgery. It also provides better avenues for collecting more reliable and accurate surgical data, potentially opening a window of opportunities for further technological advancements, including the development of predictive models based on anatomical and patient-specific risk factors.

“The hospital’s new combined robotic navigation and 3D imaging platform improves and expands on traditional cranial and spine procedures as it enables intraoperative imaging capabilities that aim to increase reliability, consistency and surgical precision during minimally invasive procedures,” said Wesley H. Jones, MD, a neurosurgeon with Memorial Hermann Mischer Neuroscience Associates-Katy Neurosurgery who is using the platform. “There are many benefits to patients, but most notable are improved outcomes and the ability to have advanced neurosurgical treatment right here in the area where they work and live.”

According to the manufacturer, the robotic navigation and 3D imaging platform is the world’s first technology to combine a rigid robotic arm and full navigation capabilities into one adaptable platform for accurate trajectory alignment in cranial and spine surgery.
