Frost Bank in Katy to host chuck wagon breakfast March 3

In the spirit of rodeo season, Frost Bank in Katy is hosting a chuck wagon breakfast that is open to the public.

The breakfast is set for 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the Katy Mason Financial Center, 21875 Katy Fwy.

Lions Field Day, Melvin Jones Fellowship Drawing set for March 5

The Katy Lions are holding their first-ever Melvin Jones Fellowship Drawing at their upcoming Lions Field Day. Tickets are $5. The drawing is part of the Katy Lions Carnival, which runs March 3-5 at Southland Bar & Grill, 5900 Stockdick Road. Fort Bend County libraries celebrate craft month with series of adult programs

In recognition of National Craft Month in March, Fort Bend County Libraries will present a series of craft-themed programs to introduce people to new hobbies and activities, and to give current crafters inspiration and new ideas.

Here is the schedule of activities for the Katy and Fulshear areas:

  • Craft Club: 2-4 p.m. on March 14 and 28 at the Cinco Ranch Branch Library, 2620 Commercial Center Blvd, Craft enthusiasts of all experience levels who enjoy any type of crafting are invited to attend to get other crafters’ perspectives, critiques, and suggestions. Chat and network with other crafters who enjoy anything from art and needlework to woodwork and much more. Those attending should bring their projects and their own crafting supplies. Crafters are invited to come and go as time permits.
  • Nifty Needlers: 12-2 p.m. March 17 at the Bob Lutz Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library, 8100 FM 359 South, Fulshear. Needlework enthusiasts of all experience levels who enjoy any type of crocheting, knitting, or sewing are invited to attend to get other needlecrafters’ perspectives, critiques, and suggestions. Those attending should bring their own yarn, strings, and needles to start or finish a project, while chatting, networking, and enjoying the company of fellow needlecrafters. The group meets on the third Friday of every month.

These programs are free and open to the public. Registration is required for some of the programs. For more information, call the library system’s communications office at 281-633-4734. Katy Lions, Prevent Blindness Texas holding free state screener training March 20

The Katy Lions and Prevent Blindness Texas are holding a free Texas state screener training and certification course from 4-7 p.m. March 20 at First Christian Church Katy, 22101 Morton Ranch Road. Registration is required. For more information, call the Katy Lions at 713-714-6789,

Katy Police Officer Association annual fish fry set for April 18

The Katy Police Officers Association is hosing their Annual Fish Fry and auction from 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 18 at the Merrell Center, 6301 S. Stadium Dr.

Tickets are $20 for all you can eat catfish fillets, green beans, hush puppies, potatoes and ice tea. Children ages 6 and under have free admission. Raffle tickets are $1 each.
