AARP to hold monthly meeting on September 10
The Katy chapter of AARP will gather Tuesday, September 10th at Midway BBQ, 6191 Highway Blvd in Katy, starting at 6:30 p.m. with a short meeting and announcements. Afterwards, entertainment will be provided by The Horizon Band which consists of six members including a lead singer, rhythm section, and horn section. Horizon has been playing music in the Katy/Richmond area for over the last 10 years and performs music from the 40's to the 80's with styles such as rock, swing, ballads, Latin/Cha-Cha, jazz, and line dance songs. Visitors are welcome. Allow time to purchase any food before the meeting starts.
Fulshear Chamber to honor veterans at September 11 meeting, with SEAL/author Will Chesney
September 11 will be commemorated by the Fulshear Regional Chamber for Commerce at its monthly breakfast meeting on that date at the Parkway Fellowship, 27043 FM 1093 in Richmond. The speaker panel – titled “What A Heroes” will feature:
· Author Will Chesney, who wrote “No Ordinary Dog: My Partner from the SEAL Teams to the Bin Laden Raid”
· Mike Martin, U. S. Navy Supply Corps Officer (Ret) who spent one year in country in Vietnam
· Captain Mike McCoy, caption in the Fulshear Police Department who has spent over 42 years in law enforcement
· Chief Her Meier, who has 50 years with the Fulshear/Simonton Fire Department
· Michael Hack, mental health commander to the NYPD
Networking and breakfast– with food provided by Whataburger and coffee courtesy of Humble Grounds – will start at 7:30 a.m. and the meeting will start at 8 a.m. No charge and guests are welcome.
American Legion Post 164 hosts grand re-opening of renovated post building on September 14
Following a lengthy reconstruction of their post facility, the American Legion Post 164 will hold an open house and grand re-opening ceremony on September 4 from noon to 5 p.m. The Opening ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. The post is located at 22125 Kingsland in Katy. KCM to hold annual gala September 19
The twentieth annual “Transforming Lives” gala benefiting Katy Christian Ministries will be held on September 19 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Safari Texas Ranch, 11615 FM 1464 in Richmond. The theme is “Wranglers and Rhinestones” and the event will feature dinner, music by the Earl Sanders Jr. band, dancing, a silent auction, and a live auction.
