After its best season in 11 years, Royal was represented well on the District 12-4A, Division II all-district team.

Royal’s Zamarion Gipson as well as DeShawn Adams and Antonio Page were named to the first team on offense.

Gibson rushed for 366 yards on the year and 3 touchdowns, while catching 31 passes for 547 yards and three more touchdowns. He also passed for 107 yards and three touchdowns.

Adams was the team’s leading receiver with 608 yards on 33 catches and he hauled in 6 touchdowns. Adams averaged over 18 yards per catch and 60 yards per game.

Page had 25 receptions on the year for 426 yards and had the most receiving touchdowns on the team with 10. He averaged 17 yards per catch and had a long of 78 yards on the season.

Justin Cryer led the way for the Royal defense on the first team and was joined by John Lewis, Jeremiah Robinson and Kerry Quashijah.

Cryer led the team in every tackle category, he had 103 tackles on the year with 48 of those being solo tackles. He had 19 tackles for loss on the season and five sacks. He also led the team with three interceptions and six pass deflections. Cryer averaged over 10 tackles per game.

Robinson led the team in sacks, with eight, and also tacked on eight tackles for loss to go with his 37 total tackles. Quashijah was second on the team in tackles, with 61 and had six tackles for loss and five sacks. Lewis had five sacks on the year to go with 55 total tackles.

J’Marcus Wilkerson, Kameron Jones and Kendrien Vinson were named to the all-district second team.

Shumpert named to volleyball all-district first team

On the hardwood, Rani’a Shumpert was named to the first team in District 24-4A to lead Royal. Shumper had 63 kills, 26 aces and 128 digs on the year. Deicy Robledo was named second team all-district while Marwina’e Wolfe, Neveah Houston and Siryah Febrez were honorable mentions.
