Paetow announced the hiring of Lonnie Teagle, Denton Ryan’s offensive coordinator and running back’s coach, as the teams new head coach on Wednesday.

Teagle, a Missouri City native who graduated from Fort Bend Elkins, comes to the Panthers with 16 years of coaching experience, including two as the offensive coordinator at Ryan.

“THANK YOU DENTON!" Teagle said in a post on Twitter. "There’s way to many great people dear to my heart here, so I’m not calling names. But I will miss you all. My relationships are real, so you’ll always have me. Please stay in touch! God Bless!”

Teagle attended Alcorn State where he played football and was a prolific punt ang kick returner during his collegiate career, accumulating 3,990 all-purpose yards throughout his career.

After that he got into the coaching profession, working up the ranks at Denton ISD. Teagle spent five years at McMath Middle School before moving to an assistant role at Denton High for five years where he also was the track coach for three years. He then joined Coppell for three years before becoming the Denton Ryan running back coach in 2019 and being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2020.

During Teagle’s time with Ryan, the Raiders had a record of 42-3, twice making the Class 5A, Division I state championship game and winning a state championship in the 2020-2021 season, Teagles first as offensive coordinator. Denton Ryan made it to the state semifinal this year before losing to to College Station, which lost to Paetow in the state final game.

With Teagle as offensive coordinator over the past two seasons, the Raiders averaged 40 points per game, 197.5 yards on the ground and 219.5 yards through the air in a dynamic attack. He also displayed an ability to coach to personnel, as Ryan averaged more yards through the air in his first season as offensive coordinator while the team averaged more yards on the ground this past season.

Teagle will succeed B.J. Gotte, who left Paetow in February to become the next head coach at Pearland.

Gotte had been the head coach since the shools opening, accumulating a 35-13 record over four varsity seasons. The Panthers come off a 15-1 season in which they won a state championship, and will be jumping to Class 6A and joining District 19-6A, which will be composed of all nine Katy ISD high schools.

"Congrats Lonnie," said Denton Ryan head coach Dave Henigan in a Twitter post. "Paetow is getting a kid-centered, hard working, energetic winner!"
