Mr. Frank John Fruia, age 81, of Katy, TX passed away to his eternal home with our Lord Jesus Christ on January 27, 2021. Frank was a leader in the Houston and national fashion community as a member of Hair America, the Lone Star Styling Committee, and Official Hair Fashion Committee of America (OHFC) for many years.

He was a multi-award-winning hair designer who had the honor of working with celebrities. He was also a respected educator and mentor. He was also a St. Thomas High School alumna.

Frank also served his community as a Lector Reader and Eucharistic Minister at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church and brought communion to hospitalized people who were unable to attend mass. In addition to his many talents, Frank was an accomplished photographer who often donated his skills to such noble causes as the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep organization.

Frank was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is survived by Carolyn Fruia, his wife of 45 years. He is also survived by his children Paul Fruia (Kelly), Perry Fruia (Sallie), Troy Fruia, Dwayne Fruia (Veronica), Simone Hamilton (Eddie), and Shantel Crutcher (Terry), foster children Nicole Crutcher and Peyton Crutcher, 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. His surviving siblings are Joe Fruia (Doranne) and Francis Dibello (Sam). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Rosalie Fruia, and his twin brother Joseph who passed at 18 months.

A mass will be dedicated to Frank at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Katy, TX on March 27, 2021 at 10:00am. A memorial celebration will be held in the near future once it is safe for the family and friends to congregate.

We pray:

“Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.”

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to the Frank J. Fruia Memorial Fund for Frank’s COVID-related medical and final expenses. Direct deposits may be made to Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union. Contact Paul Fruia via email at paul.fruia@redhotcode.com for information regarding how to make a contribution.
