Jean was born in her grandfather’s (JL Cobb) log house in Maxey Community outside of Newbern, Dyer County, TN in 1929 to Cleophus and Vera Pollard Cobb.

Jean attended one-room schools in Maxey and Roellen and later public schools in Newbern where she graduated from high school in 1947.

After graduating high school, Jean worked at the Newbern Vocational-Technical School and quickly decided she wanted to go to college so she did, earning a Bachelor’s Degree when she was in her early forties and her Master’s Degree when she was 44 - both degrees were earned at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Jean retired from teaching in Newbern and in 1985 moved to Katy, TX to be closer to her daughter - Lynda, son-in-law - Glenn and grandsons - Jeff and Kevin.  Once there, she decided she wasn’t quite ready for retirement.  She started teaching in the Katy Independent School District as a Career Investigations teacher.  Always a kid at heart, her students loved her, as she always made learning fun.  Jean attended the Second Baptist Church in Houston then the one in Katy.

In 2006, Jean started a new chapter in her life by moving to Little Rock, AR to be closer to her grandson - Kevin and his family.  The sole reason for the move was to get to know her great grandchildren - Carson and Lillie Grace and to help out as much as she could with them so Kevin and Amy could continue to pursue their careers.
