Kelly Ross Patterson, age 59, of Katy, Texas and formerly of Denver, Iowa, passed away unexpectantly at home on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
Kelly was born on December 5, 1965, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of LaVerne and Ruth Patterson. He graduated Salutatorian from Denver High School in the Class of 1984. Kelly went on to earn his degree in education from the University of Northern Iowa. After a stop at Dexter Redfield High School, Kelly taught for many years in the Katy, Texas school system. His final career stop was Saint Pius X High School, also in Katy, Texas. While teaching Mathematics and Computer Sciences, he also took on the task of being high school golf coach, which he took great pride in his player’s progress. Ultimately after 30 years he retired to improve his own golf game.
Kelly’s memory is honored by his mother, Ruth Meier of Denver, Iowa; sister, Penny (Bow) Stanley of Silver Lake, Kansas; four brothers, Randy (Pam) Patterson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Tim (Lori) Patterson of Springhill, Kansas, James Patterson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Gregory (Patti) Patterson of Denver, Iowa; nieces, Chelsea, Courtney (Eric), and Ashlee (Brandon); and nephews, Nathan Schmitz, Jake (Payton) Patterson, and Joshua Patterson. He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver, Iowa, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver.
