Katy High School offensive coordinator Jeryl Brixey has been named as the next head football coach at Brownwood High School, according to a March 7 article in Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.
According to the article, Brixey was at Katy High as offensive line coach from 2004 to 2006 and again from 2012 to the present when the school won three state titles (2012, 2015 and 2020). Brixey also was head coach at Comanche High from 2007 to 2011. Brixey served as offensive coordinator in Lewisville until 2015, when he took the same job at Euless Trinity before returning to Katy. His experience also includes a season at the University of Idaho, and he also served as an assistant coach at Galena Park North Shore High School.
In 2022-23, Brixey was recognized as the Katy ISD Male Sport Assistant Coach of the Year, out of nine high schools and more than 500 coaches in the district, according to koxe.com.
