Leonard V. Moore charged into life March 23, 1949 and took the hand of Jesus on June 8, 2020. He was a long time resident of Sealy, Texas where he retired with his wife of 49 years, Gail A. Moore. Leonard was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Maurice and Betty Moore, the second of five children. He is survived by his siblings, Michael Moore, Ronald Moore, DiAnna Billard, and Margaret Perusse.

Leonard spent his early years in Fort Wayne and moved with his family to Windham, Connecticut when he was 17 years old. He went to the University of Connecticut for his undergraduate degree in geology and met his wife, Gail Gerdes at a joint-university field camp in DuBois, Wyoming. They married August 21, 1971 and moved to Dallas for Leonard to complete his Master’s degree at Southern Methodist University in 1974. They welcomed their first child in 1976 while Leonard was working for Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. After their second son was born, Leonard took several overseas assignments, and the family continued to grow as they made new homes wherever they went. Later in his life, Leonard enjoyed orchid cultivation, art, collecting memorabilia, coins and stamps. After he retired from a 30 year career at ExxonMobil, he took up cattle ranching full time.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Gail Moore and his four children and their spouses: Alexander Moore, Benjamin Moore and Al Pelayo, Andrew and Amanda Moore, Luke and Kate Patrick. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Sarah Moore, Anderson Moore, Vivienne Patrick, Nathaniel Moore, Oliver Patrick, and Asher Moore.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony for Leonard Moore is scheduled at Second Baptist West Campus for Friday, July, 10, 2020 and 10am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Leonard’s name to the Disabled American Veterans or another charity of your choosing.
