On February 25, 2023 Mr. James (Jim) Foland went to meet his maker. Jim was 80 years old and born in Anderson IN in 1943. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Judy Foland, his mother and father, his brother Thomas Edward Foland, sister Nancy (Fowler) Harris, his two sons William Frank Foland of Houston TX and Thomas James Foland of Newburgh NY and a grandson Joshua Keith Schoettmer, Sr. of Elkhart, IN.
He is survived by his daughters Jeannie Hiatt (Phil) and Tammy Leigh Hodder (Jeffrey), a brother William Foland of Anderson, IN, 2 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He joined the army at age 16 where he served a total of 33 years. Jim’s other careers include Newburgh Police Department and EG&G. He held the position of Service Officer for the American legion post 164, Katy TX for 7 years. He was the longest service officer to date.
He was awarded the medal of merit along with many others. We are proud of his service.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd., Katy Texas 77494.
In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to go to the American Legion Post 164 Katy, TX.
