Paetow head coach David Hicks Sr. has been named the Dave Campbell Texas Football Class 6A Coach of the Week for week eight of the regular season.
The Panthers second year head coach was named the coach of the week following the Panthers 37-7 win over Seven Lakes in which they were dominant throughout. The Panthers have now won six straight and are just one of two undefeated teams in District 19-6A play along with Katy.
Paetow has stepped things up once district play hit. The Panthers have leaned on a strong run game and have averaged over 36 points per game through their first five games in district play while giving up under 14 points per game. Terrence Johnson leads the entire district in rushing with just under 1,000 yards and has scored 13 touchdowns, while Paetow’s defense has shut down almost everyone they have faced.
Overall the Panthers sit at 6-1 overall and 5-0 in district play and have already secured a playoff spot with three games remaining in district. They will face off against Katy tonight in a pivitol matchup that could decide the district championship.
Paetow’s coaching staff that won the award consists of Hicks, Clayton Odom, Charlie Ayro, Kevin Arevalo, Clyde Edwards, Wesley Geigley, Bryan Hicks, Ralph Marron, Blake Yorloff, Amos Gbunblee, Ladarrius Stallings, Javarris Williams, Chris Kha, Christian Bruchhaus and Nicholas Montefusco.
