FOUND AND SAFE: Volunteers find missing Katy area woman, and her dog, at George Bush Park

Sherry Noppe and her dog Max, who have been missing since Tuesday, were found safe at about 3 a.m. early Friday in George Bush Park, Harris County Pct. 5 Constable Ted Heap said.

Heap said volunteers found Noppe in the park when they heard Max barking in the woods.

Noppe, 63, was recently diagnosed with dementia. On Tuesday afternoon, she went to walk Max, a black Labrador. She has not been seen or heard from since, until being found Friday morning.

“It's a small miracle that she has been found alive after being missing for so long,” Heap said in a statement. “Our concern now is getting her out of the woods and to a hospital for a medical evaluation. Thank you to Texas EquuSearch along with the army of volunteers and multiple law enforcement agencies who never gave up in her search.”

Note: This story has been updated to reflect Noppe's being found, safe, at the park.
