Seven Lakes finished as runners up at this year’s Class 6A State Team Tennis Tournament, making the state final before falling to unbeaten Rock Westwood to claim second place in all of Class 6A.
The Spartans dominated their semifinal match against Allen to make the state final, winning 10-1. Seven lakes went unbeaten in boys doubles and only lost one girls doubles match before winning mixed doubles and every boys singles match remaining to clinch a dominant win.
Seven Lakes advanced to play Round Rock Westwood in the final, where the Falcons fell 10-3 to claim the silver medal.
Seven Lakes went 1-2 in boys doubles before being swept in girls doubles. The Spartans claimed the only mixed doubles match and split in their boys singles match, but lost four girls singles matches to fall to Westwood, as the Warriors claimed their second straight state title.
It’s the highest ever finish for Seven Lakes at the state tournament and a hugely successful season where they went 18-3-1 overall. The Spartans one time making state before was in 2016 where they lost in the semifinal round.
