Sondra Alaine West
It is with heavy hearts that the West and Linn families announces the passing of our mother Sondra Alaine West. Our loving “Ma” and “Granny” passed away on August 1, 2024, in Katy with family by her side. Sondra was born in Houston on December 2, 1946, to Raymond “Max” and Miriam “Jerry” Maxson.
Calling Katy home for the last 45 years, she was a huge fan of the Katy Tigers. Sondra was devout in her Catholic faith and was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Katy, where she assisted with the RCIA program for several years. The center of her world though has always been her family. Her joy was having the family over for birthdays and holidays, especially Christmas. She loved Christmas! Any occasion to have the family around her brought her joy. She was room mother, team mom and #1 fan of whatever we were involved in. In keeping with her love of family, she was deeply interested in our family genealogy, building archives of information and shared her findings with many.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years Robert “Bob” West, daughter and son-in law Dianna and Rick Linn, son and daughter-in-law Robert and Tarean West and son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Alexandra West, all of Katy. Grand sons and their wives; Matthew and Aiza Linn of Dumaguete Philippines, Michael and Laura Linn of Cypress, Tx and Andrew and Gabriela Linn of Alto, Ga. And five great-granddaughters Kailey, Madison, Molly, Abigail and Paisley.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the Schmidt Funeral Home East Avenue Chapel, in Katy, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, in Katy. Interment in Katy Magnolia Cemetery.
