Thomas Robert Greene passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, after a long, quiet fight against cancer. A man of warmth, wit, and unwavering loyalty, Tom leaves behind a legacy of deep friendships, community service, and cherished memories.
Born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut, Tom followed his love for the ocean to the Florida Institute of Technology, where he earned an associate’s degree in Oceanographic Technology. His career brought him to Houston, where he worked as a seismic technician for Decca Survey. Ever curious and committed to growth, he later returned to school to study AutoCAD drafting, building a second career that spanned many years.
A man of service as well as joy, Tom was a proud member of the Greater Houston Lions Club, serving alongside his nephew and godson, Rev. David Greene, and his sister-in-law, Sue Greene, having joined in honor of his brother. His dedication to humanitarian work reflected his generous heart and lifelong commitment to helping others.
Tom was predeceased by his parents Virginia and Robert, his brother, Steven, and his friend, Vern. He is survived by his nephew, David, sister-in-law, Sue, and best friends Bobbi, Rich, and Keith. His kindness, humor, and sincerity left a lasting impression on all who knew him. A celebration of Tom’s life will be at First Christian Church Katy 22101 Morton Ranch Rd. on August 2nd at 10 am, with a reception to follow.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Greater Houston Lions Club PO Box 1113 Katy, TX 77492.
