The regular season for baseball came to an end last week for Katy ISD and with it came co-champions in District 19-6A, as Cinco Ranch and Tompkins shared the crown this year after both finished district play with a 14-2 record and went 1-1 against each other on the year.

Tompkins closed out district play with 11 straight wins, and finished the regular season with a 22-6-1 record. The district championship was the fifth in six years for the Falcons as they surged the further they got into the season. Tompkins lost a flip with Cinco Ranch and was named the second seed out of district, drawing third seed George Ranch in the first round. The Tompkins are looking to go on another postseason run after getting to the regional quarterfinals last year and losing to Ridge Point in two hard fought games. George Ranch finished the season with four straight wins and went 11-5 in district play, the Longhorns will provide a good test for Tompkins in the first round.

The district championship for Cinco Ranch was the first since 2006 and it was behind a superb senior class and senior class. The Cougars ended the regular season with a 27-4 record and doubled opposing teams runs in district play, scoring 101 and allowing just 50. They closed out district with four straight wins and will draw fourth seeded Hightower in the first round after getting the first seed.

Cinco narrowly missed out on the playoffs last season, their last playoff appearance was in 2021, when the Cougars advanced to the area round.

Katy finished with the third seed out of district with a 22-6-4 record overall and 12-4 record in district. The Tigers had a strong year, where they beat Cinco Ranch and played very competitive and well down the stretch after losing their two opening district games against Tompkins. Katy lost their regular season finale against Taylor.

The Tigers will get Fort Bend Austin, the second seed out of District 20-6A, as they finished with a 15-14 record and went 11-5 in district play. The Tigers will be trying to go on another deep playoff run after advancing to the regional semifinals last year before falling to Strake Jesuit in a tough three-game series.

Seven Lakes rounded out the district playoff teams after beating Taylor in a play-in game, finishing the regular season with a 19-12 record and 9-7 district record. The Spartans won their final two games to get in to the playoffs as both were must wins. Seven Lakes gets the No. 4 team in the state in the first round and get a repeat of their bi-district series last year as they will face Ridge Point. The Spartans lost last year’s series in two games, as they hung with Ridge Point but were unable to best them in the first round.

Taylor finished the year in fifth play after the play-in loss, having a 21-12-1 record and a 9-7 district record. The Mustangs went on a late run to get to the play in but ultimately came up just short.

Jordan and Paetow were tied for sixth in district with 5-11 records, Jordan went 12-19 overall while Paetow had a record of 9-20. Morton Ranch and Mayde Creek rounded out the district as they were tied for seventh with a 2-14 overall record. Morton Ranch went 5-24 overall and Mayde Creek went 7-20-1 overall.
