Katy ISD Athletic Director Debbie Decker was elected into the Texas High School Athletic Director Association Hall of Honor last week.
Decker, who has been the Athletic Director for Katy ISD for the past decade, was the first female to held the position in Katy ISD and has presided over an athletic department that has produced a number of state championships since she took over.
The THSADA has over 1,500 members and is made up of Athletic Directors and school executives throughout the state. Decker was joined by Grand Prarie Athletic Director Don Murphy, Birdville Athletic Director Chris Feris and Beaumont ISD Athletic Director Rodney Saveat in being inducted to the Hall of Honor.
Decker spent time at McKninney ISD where she was a head softball coach and an assistant coach in volleyball and basketball. She then was the assistant athletic director at McKinney before taking over that same role at Katy ISD, taking over as Athletic Director after Rusty Dowling’s retirement in 2012.
