FBCSO arrests one after Saturday morning shooting

Posted

Lewis Carothers, 28, of Sugar Land was arrested Saturday after reports of a shooting in Sugar Land’s Orchard Lake Estates Subdivision according to a statement from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. Carothers has been booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on aggravated assault charges.

Carothers arrest was preceded by several 911 calls at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday morning which directed officers to the 13500 block of Schumann Trail near Sugar Land. Two men had gotten into an argument outside of a home and one man shot the other.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found one man with multiple gunshot wounds who was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital.  The gunshot victim is in stable condition and is expected to survive.

FBCSO’s statement said Carothers was identified as the shooter and was subsequently arrested.

“Resorting to violence during an argument is never the right choice,” said Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls. “We’re glad no one else was injured.”
