Foster, Galvin, Amaewhule named to Preseason All-Texas Team

Foster, Galvin, Amaewhule named to Preseason All-Texas Team

Taylor grads Bryce Foster and Praise Amaewhule were named to the Dave Campbell Texas Football 2022 Preseason All-Texas Team on Tuesday, with all three Katy ISD graduates being named to the first team, and Galvin being named the best offensive lineman in the state of Texas.

The All-Texas team includes 52 collegiate football players from the 12 FBS schools in the state.

Foster earned his honors after starting 12 games as a freshman last year for Texas A&M and being named the top newcomer on the offensive side of the ball for the team.

Foster was named to the SEC All-Freshman team last year along as being named to the FWAA Freshman-All America Team and The Athletic Freshman All-American Team.

Galvin, a senior, started every game last season at left tackle for Baylor and helped the Bears to Big 12 championship and a bowl win over No. 8 Ole Miss, leading to his selection as the top offensive lineman in the state.

Galvin comes off a season in which he was named the Big 12 offensive lineman of the year, the AP All-American Team, The Athletic All-American Team and was named to the Reese’s Senior Bowl Watchlist.

Amaewhule is entering his redshirt junior season and comes off a season in which he earned All-Conference USA first team honors, helping his place on the All-Texas preseason first team.

Amaewhule led the Miners with 13 tackles for loss last year as well as 10 quarterback hurries and three forced fumbles. He also ranked second on the team with seven pass breakups and sacks with 5.5, while ranking 22nd nationally in forced fumbles, while starting all 13 games for UTEP.

Houston places seven on team

The University of Houston had the second most players of any school placed on the team, with seven members of the Cougars named to the team.

Clayton Tune and Nathaniel Dell led the way for the Cougars, as Tuns was named the best quarterback in the state and Dell was named the best receiver. Houston placed Patrick Paul and Geravarrius Owens on the first team with Tune and Dell while Christian Trahan, Derek Parish and Donovan Mutin were named to the second team.

A&M leads Texas with eight selections

Texas A&M were the top selection getters in the state, placing eight on the team, including five selections on the first team.

Antonio Johnson led the way for the Aggies, being named the best defensive back in the state. He was joined by Devon Achane, Foster, Ainias Smith, Edgerrin Cooper and Antonio Johnson on the first team, while Reuben Fatheree II, Demani Richardson and Tyreek Chappell were named to the second team.

Rice placed two members on the team in Ikenna Enechukwu and Gabe Taylor, who both made the defensive second team.

UTSA placed six players on the team while Baylor had five named to the team. Texas, TCU and UTEP all had four each named to the team while Stephen F. Austin’s Xavier Gipson was the only FCS player to be named.
