Behind 146 yards rushing and three touchdowns from Deuce Vaughn and 259 yards passing and three touchdowns from Skylar Thompson, Kansas State easily ran to a 42-20 victory over LSU in the TaxAct Texas Bowl on Tuesday at NRG Stadium.

Kansas State rolls past LSU in Texas Bowl

Behind 146 yards rushing and three touchdowns from Deuce Vaughn and 259 yards passing and three touchdowns from Skylar Thompson, Kansas State easily ran to a 42-20 victory over LSU in the TaxAct Texas Bowl on Tuesday at NRG Stadium.

Kansas State started the game with three straight touchdowns. On its opening possession of the game, the Wildcats went on an 11-play, 75 yard drive that was capped off by a 25-yard touchdown from Skylar Thompson to Malik Knowles. After forcing a punt Kansas State followed up by going on an 18-play drive and scoring again on a 1-yard touchdown run from Deuce Vaughn.

The Wildcats then intercepted LSU and went on another touchdown drive, with Thompson throwing a 5-yard pass to Knowles to put Kansas State up by 21 points. LSU finally got on the board late in the half as Jontre Kirklin threw a 23-yard touchdown to Jaray Jenkins.

Kansas State continued their strong play to state the third quarter, as Deuce Vaughn ran I a touchdown and Thompson completed a 2-yard touchdown to Vaughn to make things a 35-7 game. The Wildcats added another touchdown on a 1-yard tun from Vaughn before LSU got its second score of the game on a 15-yard pass from Kirklin to Malik Nabers before Kansas State ran the clock out.

The Wildcats end the season with a record of 8-5 while LSU dropped to 5-7.
