Katy grad Kailey Wyckoff added a major accolade after her freshman year in college, as she was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year after a tremendous season where she was one of the best catchers in the Big 12.
Wyckoff helped Texas Tech to a 31-21 overall record with a 5-13 record in the Big 12, as the Red Raiders struggled in district play but had a strong year outside of the conference.
Wyckoff played in 51 games for the Red Raiders, hitting .401 overall with nine home runs, 31 RBIs, scoring 40 runs and totaling 111 bases.
She played 18 games in conference play which was tied for tops in the Big 12 while her four doubles were fifth in the Big 12, her 31 total bases were fifth in the big 12 and her .596 slugging percentage was 11th best in the conference.
Wyckoff became a key part of the lineup for Texas Tech, while maintaining a perfect fielding percentage during conference play and being a strong help to the Red Raiders pitching staff.
Along with being named the conferences freshman of the year, Wyckoff also was named to the Big 12 All-Second Team.
