The City of Katy Friday adopted stage 3 mandatory water restrictions in response to ongoing drought conditions.
Under stage 3 water restrictions, irrigation and landscape watering can be done only from 12-8 a.m. and 8-12 p.m., two days a week, depending on the address.
Addresses with even numbers (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) can water on Sunday and Thursday. Addresses with odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) can water on Saturday and Wednesday. Commercial locations, HOAs, greenspace and right-of-way locations can water on Tuesday and Friday.
No watering is permitted on Mondays to enable water storage recovery.
For violations, the city first issues a written warning. Second and subsequent violations will bring citations with fines ranging from $100-2,000 per incident. The city may also disconnect water service, subject to appeal.
The Katy City Council adopted these revised requirements in a July 28 special meeting.
The National Weather Service said Katy has a 60% chance of thunderstorms Saturday and 40% Sunday through Tuesday, with high temperatures expected in the high 90s.
