Katy ISD is gearing up for this year’s Girl’s Hoops Classic and it is shaping up to be a fun tournament for people around the Katy area to attend.
The school district has partnered with Memorial Hermann for the tournament to provide sports psychologists who will offer mental performance sessions for teams parents and coaches that will focus on mental toughness and strategies for peak performance. They will talk to the teams at the tournament and host speeches throughout the 14th and 15th, giving a chance for those teams, parents coaches and more to learn from experts in the mental health, physical therapy and recovery/nutrition area.
There will be a number of speakers over the two days, starting with three speakers who will give talks on mental health and performance on the 14th. Mental coach Paige Reeve, founder of the institiute of sports performance Robert B Andrews and sports mental performance coach Christa Doyle will all give their perspectives and experience in the field to start off the tournament.
After that trio speaks about mental health and performance there will also be speeches from physical therapists on how athletes can best take care of their bodies and how coaches can best look out for players. Renee Kubeczka, Chelsea Ngo and Courtney Bohne, all three of which are physical therapists at Memorial Hermann, will speak to the groups about their experiences and give advice on how to best keep your bodies healthy.
To round out the tournament on the 15th there will be talks about recovery and nutrition for athletes.
