Katy’s Jeremy Manibog was named the Class 6A Texas High School Wrestling Coaches Association Class 6A boys wrestler of the year on Monday after a terrific senior season.

The Katy wrestler had an undefeated season en route to winning a state championship, going 45-0 on the year to win state in dominating fashion.

Manibog claimed the state title in the 165-pound weight class this season, cementing an improvement of every year he was in the Tigers program.

He has made the state tournament three times, from a sophomore onward, placing in his first tournament before finishing second in the 145-pound weight class as a junior, improving to state champion while moving up weight classes as a senior.

Manibog was chosen as the 6A wrestler of the year over other state champions after demonstrating that growth. The vote comes from members of the THSWCA including coaches, who chose Manibog over other 6A boys wrestlers.

Austin Bowie’s Olivia Moreno was named the 6A girls wrestler of the year while Alexis Hanks of Killeen Ellison was named the 5A girls wrestler of the year and Midlothian’s Karson Tompkins was named the 5A boys wrestler of the year.
