Katy Area Economic Development Council President and CEO Lance LaCour will be leaving the Katy EDC for a new position with Partnership Lake Houston, a nonprofit chamber of commerce serving Northeast Harris County, Partnership Lake Houston announced Sept. 8. LaCour will start his new role as economic development president at the partnership on Nov. 1 after more than 16 years leading the Katy EDC.

According to his bio on the Katy EDC website, LaCour has been involved in various economic development entities throughout his career. Under his presidency at the EDC the organization has been recognized multiple times by the Texas Economic Development Council for economic excellence in serving a community with a population of more than 250,000. He first started with the Katy EDC in 2005.

Partnership Lake Houston CEO Jenna Armstrong expressed excitement for LaCour coming on board with her organization.

“Lance is very well-known and respected throughout the state and the country for his success with growing jobs and attracting capital investment to his community,” Armstrong said. “Over the years, we’ve watched him grow the council in Katy from the early phases to a power-house economic development organization.”

LaCour will be taking on the role of former Partnership Lake Houston Economic Development President Mark Mitchell who left his position in June of this year. Mitchell will serve in the role on an interim, contract basis until LaCour begins in November.
