On Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021 at around 9 a.m., Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in the 2500 block of FM 360 in Rosenberg regarding a reported homicide. Deputies arrived and discovered the victim, Jeanette Owens McMayon, 81, had died as a result of an assault that occurred inside her home.
As a result of the scene investigation, witness interviews, and execution of a search warrant at the home, Deputies arrested and charged the victim’s son, Kenneth Ray McMayon, 50, with the murder of his mother. The investigation remains active. A $300,000 bond has been set for Kenneth McMayon who is in custody at the Fort Bend County Jail.
The news of this tragedy comes on the eve of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which is October.
“One in four women will face physical or emotional abuse in their lifetime. We must hold abusers accountable for their heinous actions, and speak up when we see something,” said Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan.
