State Representative Jon Rosenthal announced on September 29 that he will not seek reelection to the Texas House of Representatives as he will run for Railroad Commissioner in 2026. First elected in 2019, Rosenthal represented Texas District 135, which covers a portion of the Katy area north of Morton Road, east of the Grand Parkway, south of West Road and west of State Highway 6.
“I am humbled and grateful for the constituents of House District 135 who elected me in 2018 to do the people’s work. It has been the honor of my lifetime to represent the People of District 135 in the Texas House of Representatives,” Rosenthal said in the press release. “During my tenure, I passed legislation that I take great pride in like Riley’s Rule excusing public school students with serious or life-threatening diseases to receive treatment. I’m also proud of the progress made towards finally ending child marriage in Texas and look forward to that becoming the law in Texas and in the United States. I am also proud to have stood up for Texan’s most basic rights, resisting voter suppression laws and fighting against the push to redistrict Texas’ congressional districts.”
“The work is not done, and I will continue to stand committed to serving the people of Texas.” said Representative Rosenthal.
