Seven Lakes, Cinco boys win to set up all Katy ISD regional quarterfinal; Spartans, Falcons girls advance

Seven Lakes and Cinco Ranch both won their games in the boys soccer area round on Tuesday to set up a District 19-6A rematch in the regional quarterfinals.

The Spartans beat Bellaire 2-0 while the Cougars beat Westside 5-2 to set up the rematch. Seven won both matchups between the two teams this season, 2-0 and 4-0 as the Spartans went on to win the district championship.

Seven Lakes and Cinco were joined by Jordan and Paetow in the regional quarterfinals, as both the Warriors and Panthers won Tuesday to secure a rematch from district as well, with all four Katy ISD boys soccer teams advancing to the third round of the playoffs.

Paetow won both of the matchups against Jordan in the regular season with the same score line, 3-1, and it looks to be a tough matchup for both teams as both look to advance to the regional semifinals.

With all four playoff teams from Katy ISD advancing it locks in that two of the programs will make it the regional tournament next weekend.

On the girls side of the bracket, both the Seven Lakes and Tompkins girls won on Tuesday to also advance to the regional quarterfinals, as both set up rematches from the third round last year in the process.

Seven Lakes came out 2-1 winners over Memorial, as the Spartans were able to garner a big win, and they advance to play Ridge Point, which was the teams opponent last year.

The Spartans took the Panthers to penalties last year despite having to play with 10 players on the field for all but 10 minutes of the game, but eventually lost 5-4 in the shootout as Seven Lakes was unable to advance past Ridge Point.

Tompkins topped Lamar 4-2 on Tuesday to also advance to the regional quarterfinals as they did last year, where the Falcons will also face the same team they did last season in the regional quarterfinals. Tompkins nearly overcame a two goal deficit in that game last year but lost 3-2 to Stratford as the Falcons season came to an end.
