Sue Ann Smith Marhofer

Sue Ann Smith Marhofer was born on September 3, 1948 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Daniel Charles (DC) and Beatrice Lanetta Brown Smith. She grew up in Corpus Christi and graduated from W.B. Ray High School, and then went on to receive an Associate Degree in business from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi. In 1970, she married Richard Lee Marhofer. Sue moved to Katy in 1984 after their divorce in 1983. Sue enjoyed spending time with friends, traveling, shopping, and coordinating events for others. She treasured the time spent with her family, especially attending events for her children and grandchildren. You would often find her in the bleachers or the sideline cheering for her favorite players, her grandkids. After she retired from the IRS, she worked at the Katy Vet Clinic and the City of Katy. Sue’s heart was full of generosity. Sue loved giving hugs to all those around her and cared greatly for her beloved family and friends. She was a blessing to many, and her family meant everything to her! Sue loved the Lord and radiated His love through how she cared for and served others.
Sue Ann Smith Marhofer went to be with our Lord and Savior after a valiant 30 month battle with cancer. She passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at her home in Katy, at the age of 73 surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her children, David Ross Marhofer and his wife Shanna and Julie Ann Marhofer Landers and her husband Justin Landers; grandchildren, Kaylea Joy, Zoe Ann, and Asher Ross Marhofer, and Jace Lee Landers. She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Charles (D.C.) Smith; mother, Beatrice Lanetta Smith; and her brother, Barry Lee Smith.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at the Schmidt Funeral Home East Avenue Chapel, in Katy.
