Tompkins’ Jayden Keys and Paetow’s D.J. Hicks were named to the boys Class 6A Super Elite Team after appearances at the state meet this spring.

Keys had a huge year and a terrific state meet, the Tompkins junior took home bronze medals in the 100-meter hurdles, the 300-meter hurdles and the long jump.

Keys had a time of 13.82 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, a time of 37.23 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles and a jump of 23-.475 in the long jump for his three medals at state, his third year in a row to reach a state finish.

Hicks also had a medal at state, finishing third in the discus with a throw of 182-06, coming close to the throws of the silver and gold medalists in the event.

The two were named along with just 14 others from Class 6A to the Super Elite Team and were the only two named from Katy ISD.
