Cinco Ranch honored a student on Thursday during the team’s varsity football game against Mayde Creek.
The student, who was a member of the subvarsity football team was honored after his death on Thursday morning. He was riding his bike to school when he was struck and killed by a vehicle in a crosswalk.
“The Cinco Ranch High School community is deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of one of our students,” Katy ISD said in a statement. “We extend our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family during this difficult time and offer them our love and support while protecting their right to privacy. The school, with the full support of Katy ISD, is utilizing every resource available to provide the community with counseling services as we safeguard their emotional wellbeing.”
Cinco Ranch won the game 35-0.
“Our hearts are heavy. This one is for you.” The Cinco Ranch football X account, formerly Twitter, posted.
Thoughts came in for Cinco Ranch from around the district as well.
“Prayers going out to his family and Cinco Ranch football,” Morton Ranch senior quarterback Mike Gerald posted on X, formerly Twitter. "This is bigger than football.”
