HCC NW presents President’s Speaker Series on March 5th: “Company Ghost Town”

Will manufacturing be conducted in dark buildings by robots? The Company Ghost Town looks at significant forces driving changes. The 30-minute presentation by architect Greg Turner will be followed by a brainstorming workshop where attendees will be asked to imagine concepts and strategies for educating a potentially new workforce. The event will be held Tuesday, March 5th from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the HCC Alief Hayes Campus, 2811 Hayes Road in Houston. For more information, please contact public.relations@hccs.edu.

Maud Marks Library to hold second used book sale on March 9th

The Friends of Maud Marks Library (FOMML) will be holding the second used book sale of the year 2024 at the library, 1815 Westgreen Boulevard, Katy, on Saturday, March 9, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Presale viewing and sales (cash or check only) will be available to members of FOMML on Friday, March 8, from 4 until 5:30 p.m. Annual memberships can be purchased at the door for $10. This month there is a large collection of Clive Cussler novels.All funds earned from the sale are used to support library programs, such as the Summer Reading Program, that are offered to the community. Books (adult or children’s, fiction, nonfiction, reference, foreign language, etc.) that you would like to donate to the sale are now being accepted. Please deposit them, during library hours, in the bins inside the entrance.

City of Katy Parks Department hosts annual spring community campout March 15-16

Pack up your tent and sleeping bags for a night of free family fun including an outdoor movie, children’s activities, dinner, s’mores and a light breakfast. It’s the annual Spring Community

Campout at VFW Park, 6202 George Bush Drive in Katy. Registration deadline is March 10th; register at cityofkaty.com/communitycampout.

Free shred day – and coffee and donuts – at First Financial Bank in Fulshear on March 16thBring those old paper documents to First Financial Bank, 29818 FM 1093 Suite 100 in Fulshear on Saturday, March 16th. The bank is offering a free “Shred Day” event from 9 a.m. to noon, and will accept paper only. Coffee and donuts will be served. Free.

It’s the “Wearin’ O’ the Green” at the Fulshear Katy Chamber’s St. Patrick’s Day Shindig on March 16th

The Fulshear Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, together with Christ Clinic, will host the “Shamrock Shindig” on March 16th from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Fulshear Business Park, 29225 FM 1093, Fulshear. Be sure to wear your green to this free family-friendly event which features a children’s area, local vendors and food trucks.

Celebrate Fulshear's 200th birthday

In 2024, Fulshear will be 200 years old. The City invites you to join in the party and celebrate this milestone on March 23, 2024. Attendees can expect food trucks, craft vendors, kid-friendly activities, historical display, and a drone show presented by SkyElements . This free public event will be held Saturday, March 23rd from 4-8 PM at Fulshear High School, 9302 Charger Way, Fulshear, just north of FM 1093.
