Relay for Life fundraiser set for April 20th at Katy City Park

Relay For Life – said to be the world's largest volunteer-based fundraising event – comes to Katy City Park, 5720 Franz Rd in Katy from 4 to 10 p.m. on April 20th to honor cancer warriors and to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. Community members take turns walking around a track lined with luminaria bags. Cheer for local survivors (or participate as a survivor) in the first lap of the day. Caregivers of cancer patients (currently or previously diagnosed) will then be invited to join the Survivors. As it gets dark, the luminaria bags surrounding the track will be illuminated in a memorable luminaria ceremony, a signature element of every Relay For Life event. At nightfall, these homemade paper lanterns, decorated with the names of loved ones, are lit in honor and in memory of a life touched by cancer. The ceremony includes a moment of silence for those lost. For more information, please contact Brenda Martin. bkmartin0812@gmail.com. 832.455.4500.
