Royal ISD announced February 15th that three Royal High School students were recognized at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Student Art Contest Auction Awards Ceremony, along with their teacher, RHS art instructor Steven Crawley.
Awards were as follows:
· Gold Medal, Advanced to Auction: Karen Pedraza, RHS
· Special Merit, Advanced to Auction: Kimberly Pedraza, RHS
· Special Merit, Advanced to Auction: Sandra Montalvo, RHS

The HLSR art auction will be held on March 10th. The HLSR program provides students, Pre-K through 12th grade, the opportunity to compete in district shows, earn scholarships, travel to summer workshops and display artwork in the Hayloft Gallery during the Rodeo. Schools also have a chance to receive a Super Show award for their outstanding participation. Currently, the School Art Program supports approximately 130 different school districts, including private and parochial schools, in the Houston area.
