The Fort Bend County Fair Association is debuting a new youth leadership council, the group announced in a February 14th press release. The Fort Bend County Fair Junior Leadership Council (JLC) seeks applicants for this inaugural year of the program, which is designed to give participants hands-on experience with the functional aspects of one of the most significant events in the county. Members can expand their leadership skills and work in a team environment while learning more about the fair’s mission and the fair industry. “This opportunity is unique and will be a foundation to future volunteering and leadership opportunities,” said organizers.

As a member of JLC, the youth will assist the Board of Directors and Committee Chairman, work with other committee volunteers and JLC members, bring ideas and a youthful perspective to the Fort Bend County Fair Board of Directors, and get involved with the community. Members will serve as young ambassadors for the Fort Bend County Fair.

The term of the council is from March through October 2024.

Applicants must be students enrolled in a recognized Fort Bend County public, private, or

home-school program. Sophomores, juniors, or seniors in high school as of October 1, 2024, are encouraged to apply by the March 8, 2024, deadline. As a nonprofit, the Fort Bend County Fair Association is a volunteer-based organization with a long and iconic history in Fort Bend County. The 2024 Fort Bend County Fair is set for September 27th to October 6th.
