There are two girls and two boys nominated for student athlete of the year, with Cinco Ranch and Taylor each garnering two nominations each, one boy and one girls for each school.

On the girls side, Cinco Ranch senior softball shortstop Faith Piper and Taylor senior volleyball outside hitter Hannah Fan.

Piper had a big junior season last year, helping Cinco Ranch to a second place finish in district and a second round appearance in the playoffs, while leading off and providing terrific defense, being named to the districts defensive player of the year.

Fan also had a strong year in her senior season in volleyball. The senior was named second team all-district and became the single season and career record holder for aces in a Mustangs uniform. Overall, she ended the year with 337 digs, 163 kills, 59 aces, 12 blocks and 30 assists on the year, helping out in every role for Taylor throughout the season.

On the boys side, Taylor senior wide receiver Jared Grafe and Cinco Ranch’s senior swimmer Sebastian Pabon.

Grafe helped Taylor reach the playoffs, where the Mustangs reached the bi-district round, he also helped the Mustangs finish third in district this season. He caught seven passes on the year for 63 yards, averaging nine yards per reception.

Cinco Ranch’s Sebastian Pabon. Pabon earned All-State honors last season while being awarded with academic honors from the college board national recognition program and also had a strong senior season this year.
