Harris County unveils first LAWPod, revolutionizing legal access to residents

The Harris County Robert W. Hainsworth Law Library and the Harris County Public Library (HCPL) held a ribbon cutting for the first-ever LAW (Legal Access Workspace) Pod in Harris County on April 9th at the Katherine Tyra Branch Library, 16719 Clay Rd, Houston. LAWPod is an initiative launched to address the legal access disparities in Harris County by offering legal resources and virtual assistance to the community at no additional cost, according to a press release from the Harris County Attorney’s office. “This ribbon-cutting ceremony marks a significant milestone in our commitment to enhancing access to justice and empowering individuals with the tools they need to navigate the legal system effectively,” said a department spokesperson. The event was attended by Deputy County Attorney Jonathan Fombonne, Harris County Commissioner Precinct 4 Policy Advisor Larisa Barreto, Harris County Law Library Director Andre Davison, Harris County Public Library Director Edward Melton and Houston Bar Association President Diana Gomez.
