Katy, Tompkins take home gold at District meet
Katy and Tompkins took home gold medals on Thursday at the District 19-6A cross country meet, as both the Tigers and Falcons finished top two in both the girls and boys meets, advancing to the Class 6A Region III Meet.

Katy, Tompkins take home gold at District meet
Katy and Tompkins took home gold medals on Thursday at the District 19-6A cross country meet, as both the Tigers and Falcons finished top two and advanced to the Class 6A Region III Meet.
Katy came in first place on the girls side, while Tompkins took home first in the boys meet. In the girls meet, Tompkins came in second and Mayde Creek came in third. On the boys side, Katy came in second place and Seven Lakes came in third.
Katy’s Maddy Hunter took the individual gold in the girls meet, the team consisted of Victoria Guerrero, who finished fifth, Lauren Acopa, who finished ninth and Heidi Greene, who finished fifteenth, Asha Salim came in 20th for Katy, while Hailee Greene came in 21st and Gracie Rocha came in 23rd.
Tompkins was led by Rowan Saacke, who won the meet for the second straight season, who came in second at the meet and the team also consisted of Sara Hurtado, who finished 11th, Ashley Thompson, who finished 12th, Meghan Carlson, who finished 19th, Sophia Ramshaw, who came in 24th, Madeline Bartlett, who came in 33rd, and Jordan Musselman, who came in 38th.
Mayde Creek was led by Claudia Klander, who had a third place finish, followed by Jamie Klander who came in fourth. Ava Gonzalez came in 10th, Denise Perez came in 32nd, Madeline Bartlett came in 33rd, Jolette Soto came in 36th and Jocelyn Montano came in 48th to round out the Rams team.
Individual qualifiers from the girls side were Cinco Ranch’s Kirsten Thomas, Jordan’s Addison Sutton, Taylor’s Casey Scherpereel, Jordan’s Lilah Katz, Seven Lakes’ Regina Pasiero Garduno, Jordan’s Jordan Allen and Cinco Ranch’s Ava Walker.
On the boys side, Tompkins took gold as a team behind second place individual finisher Parker Wood and third place finisher Griffen Saacke, the team was rounded out by Austin Garcia, Juan Perez Salas, Mathias Pitzel, Aaron Ramshaw and Diego Reyes.
Katy’s second place team consisted of fourth place finisher Ryder Darcey, along with eighth place finisher Joshua Perez, Diego Mion, Logan Morris, Evan Couture, David Kalwahali and Benjamin Robins.
Seven Lakes was led by Matthew Montgomery, who won the individual gold for the second straight year, he was joined on the team by Samuel Garcia Camejo, Christopher Cameron, Arjun Baviskar, Keegan Pollard and Hudson Smith.
Individual qualifiers from the boys meet were Paetow’s Elijah Emerson, Taylor’s Carlos Varela, Taylor’s Michael Klahn, Cinco Ranch’s Ryan Du Plessis, Cinco Ranch’s Alex Hahn Vadstein, Mayde Creek’s Roy Sixtos, Cinco Ranch’s Tomas Tellez, Jordan’s Andres Merizalde, Mayde Creek’s Cash Taylor and Mayde Creek’s Dwight Bennet.
