The playoff field got locked in for Katy ISD on Friday, with Katy, Taylor, Tompkins and Cinco Ranch advancing to the playoffs after strong regular seasons.

Katy clinched the first seed out of district by winning an undefeated district championship, going 16-0 in district play, scoring 216 runs through district while only giving up two. The Tigers have an overall record of 31-1-1 and are riding an 11 game win streak into the playoffs, where they will face off against Fort Bend Dulles or Ridge Point in the first round, times and dates to be determined. Dulles went 11-5 in District 20-6A to finish fourth and are currently on a two game win streak.

Taylor finished second in district with a 13-3 record in district play and a 20-11 record overall. The Mustangs outscored district opponents 132 to 64 on the year and had won four straight before falling to Katy in the teams regular season finale. Taylor will face Ridge Point or Dulles in the bi-district round, times and dates to be determined. Ridge Point finished third in District 20-6A, with an 11-5 record in district while outscoring opponents 180 to 58. Ridge Point has lost its last two games heading into the playoffs.

The third seed from Katy ISD went to Tompkins, a team that went on a big run later in the season. The Falcons finished district with an 11-5 record and outscored opponents 134 to 80 in district play. Tompkins had won six straight games prior to losing its regular season finale to Paetow. The Falcons will play Fort Bend Travis to open the playoffs, times and dates to be determined. Travis went 13-3 in district play and outscored opponents 186 to 86. The Tigers have won five straight heading into the playoffs.

The fourth and final playoff spot was earned by Cinco Ranch. The Cougars narrowly fell to the fourth seed, finishing 10-6 in district while outscoring opponents 150 to 87 in district play. Cinco ended district play with a win over Seven Lakes to head into the playoffs on a good note. The Cougars will take on George Ranch in the first round. The Longhorns were dominant in district play, clinching a district championship behind a 15-0 record and outscoring opponents 205 to 20 in district play, while having a 21-5 record on the season. George Ranch has won 12 straight heading into the playoffs and Cinco will have to be at its best to knock off the Tigers.
